GRAIN ROT Extraction Run Guide
Go deep, grab glowy loot, and leave before the Rot wins.
An extraction run in GRAIN ROT is the underground phase between elevator descent and successful return to the Outpost. Profitability is not about clearing every room — it is about converting the right loot into gold before Corrupted pressure, rot buildup, or teammate chaos ends the run. This guide teaches route planning, loot triage, extract timing, and co-op callouts that keep four-player crews consistent.

Pre-run checklist at the Outpost
Before anyone enters the elevator:
- Repair rooms damaged by previous rot events — see room upgrades
- Confirm inventory tier unlocks from Outpost levels (sword, hammer, gun access at higher tiers)
- Cure rot on any player still infected from last run — Rot Sickness
- Assign roles from Co-op & Spark Mechanics
- Set extract threshold: gold target, time limit, or corruption cap
Skipping pre-run maintenance causes cascading failures. Demo players reported elevator rot reactions destroying decorated rooms; infected players should never ride up uncured.
Route selection in procedural ruins
Underground layouts shift between runs. Instead of memorizing maps, memorize loot signatures:
- Glowy orbs — artifact sources for blueprint unlocks
- Heavy furniture clusters — high scrap yield but slow to break
- Grinder rooms — convert on-site but extremely loud
- Vertical chokepoints — good for blocking Corrupted, bad for Spark rescue
Scouts should call room type early. Carriers path toward the nearest grinder-extract line, not the deepest point on the map.
Loot priority tiers
| Priority | Item type | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Glowy artifacts | Unlock constructs and long-term power |
| A | Portable high-value scrap | Gold without lengthy demolition |
| B | Bulk furniture | Only if grinder is nearby and clear |
| C | Cosmetic props | Extract if convenient, never chase |
When inventory fills, extract. Deep-layer greed causes total wipes — and GRAIN ROT punishes wipes by losing all party loot if every vessel breaks.
Grinder timing and noise windows
The Grinder screams. Treat it like a boss summon button. Optimal pattern:
- Clear immediate adjacency or assign Anchor to hold door
- Load high-yield items only — do not grind low-value trash under pressure
- One operator feeds while others watch spawn vectors
- Leave the room before secondary waves arrive
Full noise strategy lives in Grinder & Loot Loop.
When to extract
Extract when any abort condition triggers:
- Two vessels broken with third under heavy rot
- Grinder alert drew multiple Corrupted from different directions
- Loot value already meets session goal
- Real-world time exceeds agreed limit (fatigue causes trolling deaths)
The player with the clearest path to elevator calls extract. Debate kills groups — use a single shot-caller per run.
Elevator extraction etiquette
The elevator is a loading zone, not a safe room until doors close. Corrupted can still reach careless players. Order of boarding:
- Carrier with highest loot value
- Injured vessels below critical integrity
- Anchors covering rear
- Sparks following last vessel in
Never hold the elevator open for “one more room” unless the group explicitly resets the abort threshold.
Solo extraction pacing
Solo players extract earlier and avoid deep-layer rot stacks. You cannot rescue your own Spark efficiently in double Corrupted encounters. Use demo biomes overview to learn shorter loops before pushing depth.
Post-run spending order
Successful extracts fund Outpost growth. Spend gold in this order for fastest power curve:
- Room levels that unlock stamina, health, or inventory tiers — room priority tier list
- Critical constructs (storage, blocking furniture)
- Artifact coin reserves for blueprint gacha
- Cosmetics once survival is stable
Launch-day changes to watch
Full release adds elevator modifiers, treasure extraction with vessels aboard, and deeper biomes. Revisit this guide after August 2026 for updated route meta on launch features.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What happens if we die before extracting?
If every player's vessel breaks before extraction, loot from that run is lost. Sparks can continue temporarily, but total party failure wipes the haul.
How deep should beginners go?
Stay in early demo biomes until room upgrades unlock tier-two gear. Push depth only when rot cures and inventory tiers are stable.
Is stealth viable?
Partially. Corrupted react to sound and movement. You can reduce noise by limiting grinder use and sprinting, but full stealth runs are rare.
Can we extract mid-combat?
Yes if the elevator is reachable. Assign anchors to break line-of-sight while carriers board first.
