GRAIN ROT Artifacts & Blueprint Guide
Glowy loot in, random power out — manage the gacha wisely.
Artifacts are glowing loot orbs found in GRAIN ROT’s underground ruins. They fuel the Outpost progression gacha — converting into coins, rolling random artifact rewards, and feeding the unlocker to generate construct blueprints. This system randomizes long-term builds but rewards consistent deep extraction.
Learn the loop here, then optimize routes in Extraction Run Guide and spending in constructs guide.
Finding glowy artifacts
Artifacts spawn as obvious glowing objects in procedural rooms. Scouts should call them early. Priority tier S in loot routing — never leave them behind unless extract timer expires.
Carry artifacts to elevator intact. Do not put them in the Grinder — gold conversion destroys blueprint potential.
Artifact coins and the ball machine
Murch introduces artifact coins in the tutorial. Deposit coins into the ball machine near his workshop to receive a random artifact item. Outcomes range from powerful tools to surprising joke rewards.
Gacha mindset helps: you are building a long-term collection, not fishing one perfect roll per session.
Unlocker and blueprint drops
Place rolled artifacts into the unlocker (opener) to receive construct blueprint drops. Blueprints permanently unlock crafting recipes for the Outpost builder.
Duplicate or low-value rolls still contribute to collection completion — some players save coins for co-op roll ceremonies.
Economic balance with gold
Artifacts compete with Grinder gold for session time. Recommended split for mid-progression crews:
- Run 1–3: prioritize gold and room levels
- Run 4+: dedicate runs to artifact farming when inventory tiers stable
- Co-op: designate Carrier for orbs, others clear paths
Legendary gacha at launch
Developer news mentions Legendary Gachas arriving in 1.0. Expect new tiers, pity systems, or rate changes — monitor launch features and update this guide post-release.
Risk management
Artifact runs often push depth where rot stacks faster. Cure before elevator — Rot Sickness — and set abort rules in Extraction Run Guide.
Session planning for artifact farms
Dedicated artifact sessions differ from gold Grinder loops:
- Travel light on bulk scrap unless inventory tiers allow hybrid runs
- Pre-agree extract on first rot stack, not first contact
- Bank artifact coins until co-op can witness gacha rolls together
- Log blueprint duplicates to avoid scrapping unknown S-tier pieces
Hybrid runs — gold plus artifacts — work only for experienced crews with tier-three inventory online.
Long-term collection mindset
Blueprint gacha is a marathon. Demo players with partial collections still progress via room upgrades funded by gold. Do not let perfect artifact RNG block functional Outpost spending. Balance weekly: two gold runs per one artifact run until launch biomes shift drop rates.
Co-op artifact etiquette
Call dibs before pickup arguments slow extracts. Carrier role owns orb transport; scouts call room clearance. Spark flex players cover rear during orb extraction from deep chambers — see deep layers.
Artifact coin banking ethics in co-op
Shared Outpost gold already causes arguments — artifact coin banking needs explicit rules. Some crews bank coins until all four players can roll together; others allow solo rolls after consensus. Pick a policy before legendary gacha arrives at launch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Can I grind artifacts into gold?
No. Use the Grinder for furniture scrap, not glowy artifacts. Artifacts feed the unlocker blueprint system.
Are gacha results permanent?
Blueprint unlocks persist on your Outpost. Individual artifact rolls vary per session.
Do artifacts spawn in every run?
Spawn rates vary by depth and biome. Deep layers generally offer better rewards at higher risk.
What are Legendary Gachas?
A feature teased for full launch. Details will be added when officially documented.
Can artifacts spawn in every biome?
Rates vary by depth and biome band. Deep layers generally improve quality at higher risk.
