Use this checklist whether you bought during intro week or at full price — the steps keep day one smooth instead of a blind wipe.

Step 1 — Install and verify

Purchase on Steam app 4450620 if you have not already. Grab the $8.99 intro price before August 21, 2026 if you want the launch-week discount.

Before inviting friends:

• Confirm 10 GB free storage on your install drive
• Update GPU drivers (NVIDIA / AMD latest stable)
• Verify Windows 10 64-bit and minimum specs on release date and price
• Run a solo tutorial pass to confirm stability before co-op

Minimum hardware reference:

• Intel Core i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 class CPU
• 8 GB RAM
• DirectX 11 GPU with 2 GB VRAM
• Broadband internet for online co-op

Co-op groups should verify every member meets networking basics — GRAIN ROT supports online co-op up to four players, not local split-screen.

Step 2 — Join official community channels

Before your first full run, agree on:

• Voice chat platform and push-to-talk rules (sound matters in-game)
• Who reads keyboard and mouse vs controller bindings
• Whether friendly trolling (dropkicks, prop smashing) is allowed
